The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has commenced a national Retreat on the validation of the Draft of INEC for 2022-2026 by setting motion for a strategic plan ahead.
Residents Electoral Commission of the Independent National Electoral Commission Resident Electoral Commissioners in the 36 states have been on the spot ahead of upcoming elections in the country.
The REC came together to discuss the strategic plan to make 2023 general election free,fair,and credible at Radisson Blu Hotel, Lagos.
The electoral body said that the 2017-2021 Strategic Plan and Strategic Programme of action is presently on the cusp of expiration, and in line with the existing practice of the commission, the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu inaugurated a Strategic Plan Committee to this effect.
The event held at Raddison Blu in Lagos, saw INEC Resident electoral commissioners coming together to brainstorm and navigate the way forward, by planning ahead.
INEC Chairman represented by Dr. Adekunle Ogunmola said that it was essential for the commission to plan ahead for an hitch free election in coming years and also provide a strategic direction for the commission to achieve its mandate within the national and international contexts of its operation.
The European centre for electoral support ECES who is one of the partners of Inec represented by their project coordinator Hamza Fassi-Fihri in his goodwill message expressed Eces sympathy over the Arson and attacks the commission is facing across the nation,he urged security agencies to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators and to prevent such negative and criminal vices.
