National Immunisation Day: Oshodi-Isolo Council Boss Presents Two Ambulance Buses, Announces Construction Of Another Public Health Center

In commemoration of this year’s immunization day, the Oshodi-Isolo local government chairman, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, has presented two ambulance buses to the Primary Health Centers to aid effective service delivery within the local government.

While presenting the ambulances the flag off of this year 4th edition of the national immunization exercise at the primary health centre situated within the council secretariat, Oloyede said health remains a top priority of his administration as he announced the construction of another primary health centre for the people of the council.

Oloyede said his idea of inaugurating a new health care centre is meant to bring health services closer to the people and make it affordable for them

The council boss assures that existing health centres will be well equipped with modern health facilities.

While addressing the audience which includes pregnant women, nursing mothers and others

guests, Otunba Oloyede noted that the health sector is one of the cardinal areas of his administration.

He informed them that his passion for good health delivery within the local government propelled him to purchase two ambulances that will be handed over today.

He disclosed that “we shall do everything possible in ensuring that our health centres are properly positioned. Just last week, we have been able to secure the federal government intervention in building another public health centre for Ogunoloko ward. Any moment from now, contractors will move to site. Also, we are working closely with the state government in facilitating the creation of a General Hospital for the good people of Oshodi. Works  are ongoing and very soon, it will also materialize.”

He continued that “the presentation of these ambulances and the supports so far are just a tip of the iceberg. I have discussed with the MOH on how we can organize a programme for the elderly that will target our people living with certain health challenges like hypertension, diabetes and the likes. We shall also meet and give all the health centres facelift”.

Otunba Almaroof Oloyede also kicked off the immunization exercise by vaccinating three children alongside his vice, Hon. Mrs Modupe Badmus-Aregbe, and Chairman, House Committee on Health, Oshodi-Isolo legislative arm, Hon. Mrs. Temitope Ige-Adega.

During the flag-off ceremony Medical Health Officer of the council, Dr. Ubani, appreciated the chairman for his fatherly roles for the health sector improvement since his assumption of office. She noted that his performance towards revamping the health sector within his short period in office is sterling noting that his kind of chairman is rare.

Also speaking, Mrs Tosin Adewole disclosed the need for parents to take the immunization of their children very seriously. She observed that for a child to be fully vaccinated, he/she must receive 6 doses.

She posited that vaccination will boost the immune system of children and enable them to fight against infections.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of souvenirs to nursing mothers and Mama-kits for pregnant women.
