The Old Students Association of Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo, Lagos chapter held its seventh edition of their health walk tagged ‘Your Health in The New Normal’ on Saturday in Lagos
The annual health walk is aimed at encouraging healthy living through regular exercises.
The walk began at Maryland Mall, with the members walking to Ikeja and then back to the mall.
Speaking on the motive of the health walk, the Vice Chairman, Olivet Baptist High School Old Students Association, Lagos chapter, Adeola Amusat, said the annual health walk was aimed at encouraging society on the need for regular exercises and also act as a bond among members.
“We know that health is very important, and life is all about health and being healthy. When you look at the lifestyle in Lagos, apart from the stress of going to work and moving about, most of us do not create time to at least exercise ourselves,” Amusat told
“Even if the event is annual, the idea is to encourage our people to make exercise part of their lifestyle. I am impressed with the turnout, even with the rain and traffic, members still came out to observe the walk. We are looking at moving the event to the dry season because of the rain.”

The Chairman, Health Walk Committee, Olivet Baptist High School, Lagos chapter, Oluwafemi Jehoshua, added, “We do this health work every year, this is the seventh edition. We believe in a healthy community and Olivet Baptist High School, Lagos chapter inaugurated this to create awareness on healthy living.
“Walking is one of the best exercises one can give to the body. Doctors recommend at least a 30 minutes’ walk daily to keep the body fit.”
Jehoshua added that he was impressed with the members turnout despite the early morning rain.
“I was surprised that people came out for the walk because of the rain. This is the second time the event will be held during the rainy season. We usually have it in February, but the COVID-19 outbreak shifted our calendar, thank God the event went well.
“The response is better, we planned for over 100 people, but what we had was close to a hundred, hopefully, we will make the 2023 edition bigger.”
