The annual Dr. Taiwo Afolabi Soccer Competition has reaches its final stage as talented young soccer stars from four different clubs, both male and feme will be storming the Campos Mini Stadium on Lagos Island. Date is Saturday the 29th of April, 2023. The event, yearly sponsored by the mercurial billionaire business mogul, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi to celebrate his birthday, has produced quite a number of football talents scattered across the country and beyond today.
This year’s fiesta will be the 7th edition of U-17 Boys and Girls Southwest Football Championship which have been fixed for the closing ceremony of the tournament.
Both boys and girls finals would be played at the Campos sports center, Lagos Island.
In the boys final category, Mighty Stars from Ijebu-Ode would face Andrew FC from Ikotun, while Bright Stars Queens from Ibeju-Lekki would tackle Wasback Queens from Mainland in the female category.
Speaking ahead of the final, chairman organizing committee, Taofeek Ajibola said the organizers are ready to stage a a hitch free closing ceremony and urged the football fans to shun vices that can affect the image of the competition.
He revealed that the final is coincided with cup donor birthday, Dr Taiwo Afolabi (MON) who would clock a year older on Saturday .
“This year’s final would be better organized because we have put necessary things in place to make this year’s edition a memorable one. The finalists are ready and we have contacted certified referees to handle the finals without fear or favour. I wish the finalists all the best in their outings,” he said.
