Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu Commissions Medical Infrastructure Projects At LASUTH

Today, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, commissioned medical infrastructure projects at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

The commissioned projects include a 124-Bed Sustainable Development Goal Multipurpose Medical Building; the Renovated House Officers’ Quarters; an Ambulance Bay; and a Special Services Centre. He also broke the ground for the commencement of construction of Doctors’ Resident Quarters.

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, speaking on behalf of Mr. Governor, stated that “the delivery of the modern medical infrastructure projects will further strengthen the capacity of the State health care system to meet the needs of residents and citizens alike.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu, appreciated the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire for the donation of the 124-bed SDG multipurpose medical building to Lagos State. He said, the purpose built medical infrastructure will significantly raise the status of LASUTH as a leading healthcare institution.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goal, Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire said, that the Federal Government through the Sustainable Development Goals will continue to partner with the State Government to ensure that citizens have unhindered access to quality healthcare services. She thanked the Lagos State Government for the support given to the outgoing President and urged the Government and people of Lagos State to extend the same support to the incoming administration.

In the same vein, the State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, explained that the different medical infrastructure projects that were commissioned are parts of Mr. Governor’s effort to improve the State Health indices.

He explained in details the different parts of the projects and their purposes which is to ensure that the construction is in line with the “Health and Environment” pillar under the T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda to enhance productivity and efficiency in the public health sector.

While giving his welcome address earlier, the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, lauded Mr Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his continuous support towards ensuring that LASUTH soars high as a healthcare institution, in Lagos State and in Nigeria as a whole.

The CMD appreciated Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), for being the channel to the achievement of this great feat that LASUTH has attained in the area of medical infrastructure expansion.
