JUST IN: Petrol Scarcity Looms As Hoodlums Block Tanker Drivers Access To Depot

Petroleum tankers have been denied access to petroleum depots and other loading facilities in Lagos State by unauthorised persons.

A reliable source reports that scores of petroleum tankers are stranded at Ijora and Apapa areas of the state after some hoodlums, some of which are wearing uniforms, besieged the access road to enforce a court order.

A Correspondent learnt that there is a lingering feud between some prominent Lagos families leading to the ugly situation.

Depot operators have sought understanding of feuding parties to allow free flow and distribution of products to avert bleak Yuletide this December.

Information from the depot operators showed that a faction of Cardoso family has employed some hoodlums through Bolaji Ayorinde, their lawyer, to stop trucks from entering the depots to load petroleum products.

Some of them are in a private security uniform while others are not uniformed. They said they have reported this problem to the Attorney General of the state because they said they are acting on the instruction of Bolaji Ayorinde, the Cardosos lawyer.

The tanker drivers have also requested the Depot and Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, (DAPPMA) to intervene to ensure no further disturbances to their operations while the appeal is being heard on the disputed judgement being used by their lawyer to disrupt petroleum products to the country.
