LASUTH Holds Matriculation Ceremony For Students Of Anaesthetic And Orthopaedic Cast Technology

The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), living up to its responsibility of providing medical education and training for health professionals, held its matriculation ceremony for 79 students of the Schools of Orthopaedic Cast Technology and  Anaesthestic Technology, on Wednesday, 1st November 2023.

In his opening remarks, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adetokunbo. O. Fabamwo, congratulated the matriculants and assured them that the quality of knowledge they would be acquiring in these schools would open them to available opportunities.

Prof. Fabamwo expressed that “the vision of the hospital management to train Anaesthetic and Orthopaedic Cast Technicians, is to assist Anaesthetists and Orthopaedic Surgeons. This would go a long way in navigating the manpower scarcity.” The CMD admonished the students to pay attention to what they are being taught and put in the work that is required of them to succeed, as nothing good comes easy. He  wished them well in their new endeavor.

The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Prof. Akin Abayomi, ably represented by the Director Medical, Administration and Training, Ministry of Health, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Shokunbi, during his goodwill message, congratulated the matriculants as they become bonifide student of the schools. He charged the student to be good ambassadors of the institutions and remain focused.

The Keynote Speaker, Prof. Oladipo Adewole who is also the Head of Orthopaedics & Trauma Department at LASUTH, spoke on the topic, “Together, each can achieve more.” He highlighted the different ways  team-work can tremendously help them in achieving their goals as they embark on this academic journey. He said team-work encourages collaboration, creativity and innovation. He went further to say that success in team-work requires steadfastness, commitment, respect, impact and improvement in diversity.

Director Clinical Services and Training, Prof.  Adebowale Adekoya, appreciated the Honourable Commissioner and PS for Health, for their ever supportive stance with the hospital. He then, applauded the Chief Medical Director, who is the brain behind the creation of the schools; he said “the CMD is a visionary leader who sees future and plunges into it.” He also thanked the officials of JAMB and NBTE, as well as members of the hospital management present.
